Bay East is seeking an exceptional Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to serve as the organization’s chief staff executive and strategic leader. Working in close partnership with the Board of Directors and in collaboration with a talented, committed staff, the CEO will provide vision, leadership, and operational oversight to ensure Bay East delivers exceptional value to its members, advances the real estate profession, and sustains long-term organizational growth.

The CEO will work alongside Bay East’s volunteer leaders and a professional staff to translate strategy into action, foster a culture of excellence, and continually strengthen the organization’s impact and member value.

The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the CEO will provide strategic leadership while working collaboratively with Bay East’s staff to achieve the organization’s mission, strategic priorities, and operational goals.

The CEO will:

  • Partner with the Board as a trusted strategic advisor, providing timely insights on organizational performance, opportunities, and industry trends.

  • Lead strategy and organizational direction, developing, implementing, and annually reviewing the strategic plan while keeping Bay East innovative, competitive, and relevant.

  • Champion culture and people, serving as Chief Culture Officer and building a high-performing team through effective recruitment, development, accountability, collaboration, and retention.

  • Strengthen member value, continuously evolving Bay East’s value proposition and driving member recruitment, retention, satisfaction, and engagement.

  • Lead financial stewardship, developing and managing the annual budget, safeguarding organizational assets and reserves, maintaining fiscal discipline, and optimizing investments in technology and vendors.

  • Advance operational excellence, ensuring strong data governance, cybersecurity, risk management, internal controls, compliance, and continuous process improvement.

  • Represent Bay East externally, building relationships with associations, MLSs, business partners, vendors, community organizations, and other stakeholders.

  • Be a visible voice for members, advancing the Bay East brand through public relations, advocacy, and community engagement at the local, state, and national levels.

The CEO will also maintain regular visibility with members and cultivate relationships with associations, MLSs, vendors, and community organizations in alignment with Bay East’s strategic objectives.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of five years of senior executive leadership experience, preferably within a trade association, nonprofit, or similarly complex membership organization.

  • Demonstrated success working with governing boards and volunteer leadership and building productive partnerships between volunteers and staff.

  • Knowledge of the real estate industry and/or REALTOR® association structure and culture is highly valued.

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree and/or RCE or CAE designation preferred.

  • Resides within a reasonable commuting distance of BayEast’s Pleasanton, California office and be able to work on site/in person. Relocation assistance is available.

Compensation

BayEast offers a competitive executive compensation package with a salary range of $325,000 - $375,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience, together with a benefits program including medical insurance and additional employee benefits.
